Ice Cream Factory

There’s nothing like a dollop of cold ice cream on a hot Sunday afternoon.

I was in my element a few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon to be exact; hanging out with my bossom buddies after church when we all suddenly simultaneously voiced the effect the scorching sun was having on us. Now we all love ice cream but have been exhausted with the dreary options we’ve been having access to, so when I suggested Ice Cream there were mixed reactions of tired oohs and aahs! Complaints of expensive and ridiculous ice cream reeked the atmosphere even I started feeling a wee bit foolish for ever suggesting it. but it was then I realized …..

Now I had read in an older edition of Naija times of an ice cream parlor set up by a polished[by this I mean refined] husband and wife team somewhere in Victoria Island. At the time I promised myself I would try them out but I never really did, so I proposed to my sun-scorched buddies that we try out the place and if we still weren’t satisfied with the creamy offerings we saw we would give up on ice cream totally or rob a blue bunny store, I got senior votes and after three or four phone calls made to ascertain the exact location we drove down there.

Now I will not lie to  you, just looking at their menu board up against the left side of the wall I was transported to central London, as in haba, all the ice cream treats and desserts I had ever feasted on in foreign lands were featured right there on the board. Plus the array on display was em em em mouthwatering.  Bottom line is we didn’t know when we had spent N10, 000 on ice cream, and not because they were expensive but we simply had to have more and more.

The ambience of the place was Muah! and the customer service was truly flattering.

If you doubt me just go there;

New Path To Long Strong Days

Monday, July 12, 2010 20:43

This generation is plagued with a humongous appetite for the most unhealthy foods. We are also exposed to all the nasty toxic elements in the environment that age our skin prematurely, wreck our blood cells and expose us to avoidable sicknesses and diseases.

Every day I get mails telling me about all the cancerous nature of processed foods and the impending doom that comes to those who snack on burgers and perform juggling acts with Pringles and blue bunny.  In one of my earlier posts “Healthy Tummy can still be Yummy” I disclosed some of the sure ways to help yourself ingest food with consideration for your health and body, fortunately I have some more good news.

To get the best from this post you need to know what”Oxidants” and  “Antioxidants” are and exactly what they do when in the human body. Like it is said too much of anything or everything can be real bad for you, it may come as a surprise to you but to much oxygen can harm you, in fact oxygen in inappropriate amounts can kill you. Oxidants damage your blood cells while antioxidants prevent them from doing so, and better still antioxidants diminish the effect that oxidants have on the blood cells if they arrive there before the antioxidants get a chance to check in. Sources of oxidants include nicotine, elements in the atmosphere and a host of others, so you really cant avoid them, on the other hand you can make sure your diet and habits promote the steady production of antioxidants in your body to combat the activities of the adamant oxidants.

With information from one of MogboMoya’s sources,  I have discovered one of nature’s Gifts that is very rich in the oxidant fighting substance, this gift is none other than ” The Acai Berry”, a fruit grown and harvested in lush Brazil, it isn’t popular yet  so not everyone knows about it. This beautiful fruit fights free radicals that wage battle against your blood cells, it also tackles excessive weight and keeps your body’s metabolism in tip top shape.

As a person that wants to stay fit and healthy for the rest of my days on earth, I’m opting into an Acai Berry diet and all the supplements I can handle, how about you?

For more information on the Acai Berry and how to access it, visit http://www.myacaiberryreview.net

P.S Oxidants are the major causes of heart disease and heart failure.

There’s a certain beauty in life that I must take out time to mention.

People never really realize how truly fabulous they are because they are so enamored by the semi infinite awe of others and then they start to compare themselves to the proposed standards all around them. Its all a livid cycle.

Every single human being is in the least, as perfect as they are, except for the required evolutionary process of becoming better at being themselves and not the perfunctory customization to another i.e that is making every effort to be like the next person, which is a futile and vain effort [excuse my tautology], because the next person is probably caught up in a similar venture. LOL

I came to a full realization of this when I experienced a true flood of concentrated happiness. I realized I am blessed and fulfilled, I am me. I celebrate myself everyday.  It is so important, being grateful for who you are as a person is the beginning of real personal development and self improvement. Being thankful and content is the pathway to hearing your spirit speak to you. Just thought I’d let you guys know this.

For a sneak preview into my upcoming post, I think I have found a proper Event Planner and I’m giving have a run soon. Maybe the days of poorly expressed events may soon be behind us, fingers crossed people.

Healthy Tummy can still be Yummy

Thursday, June 17, 2010 18:55

I’m so afraid of all these new mails going around talking about cancerous foods and drinks.  Almost all of the blacklisted foods and drinks constitute our staple meals and junk diet and it has proven difficult to find alternatives [maybe not].

There is the fiber, fruit and vege diet, constituting of high in fibre cereals [mueslis, crueslis & Special K], fruits of the season and of course cream free salads. These are not all bad, forget the names, they are tasty but the cost of maintaining a diet like that is totally unpalatable.

On the other hand, I’m a lover of food so how much do I really have to sacrifice.

I was browsing through City People, a soft cell magazine published in Las Gidi, to my delightful surprise my eyes identified an ad for a food stop called Healthy WOK, for some odd reason it spoke to me and I rushed to my laptop to visit their website www.healthywokng.com

Their menu looked good, so I drove through town to embrace Chinese &  Thai food that is prepared with calculated calories, the promise was that food was non-fatty, very low in cholestorol and your daily calory intake is defined for you, haba1 How I no for go.

So I drive through town till I get to Healthy WOK, a cute small place with such beautiful ambience, indeed the food was really good and it looked and tasted healthy non-the-less.

Events Events Events

I am severely tired of attending parties that are poorly organized.

Yes I am always complaining,  don’t we all. The truth is as fundamentally intelligent beings we cant help but observe the shortfalls at the outings we attend, from parties, ceremonies, concerts and even simple meetings. It is a horrible thing that we still make the same mistakes, even when we hosts experience bad event organization first hand, we complain, then yet again plan another event with the very same shortcomings, as in, I can’t shout!

Haba,  I heard that even the recent Hip Hop World awards was a gigantic flop in the area of the Event’s management.

The truth is it is unfortunate, we expend loads of money and time planning an event but we always omit the key details. Even with the latest sound technology experts at our beck and call we still have our Wandes and Dbanjs miming to their own songs. What a horrible mess, if noone will complain I  definately will.

Where are all the professional and expert event planners and organizers when you need them! Or what exactly is the problem.

Naija Women: This is Embarrassing!

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 18:57

Facebook and all the social media have their good but they also have their evils.

I happened upon a very disturbing link on Facebook recently and I really dont have the words to describe my exact feelings. Disgusted, Embarrassed are the only words that can begin to describe it.

A Nigerian Woman, who I hear has left her husband and two kids to go into music has topped the charts of Musical Rubbish by any standards. If she left them to spur a global change through the use of good music I may have understood but what she is spinning out is alot less than rubbish.

Her Latest Single is titled Ikebe Na Monie! like the title may suggest, the video has the most lurid things you ever saw, nudity and language for the R40 league cause even R18 go fear fear. The worst part however is she spoke in two Nigerian Mother tongues linking her straight to us, if only she had stuck to pidgin.

Apparently she is based in America which is a sorry shame, if you want to go to greener pastures at least have a proper plan and endeavor to do your country proud.

Even Hair Needs Rehab!

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 18:44

I know what you are thinking, but that is not Obama! but the lady in the second picture is me [Na so]. lol  Well it could be me after my makeover today.

Today was one of those days! I have an impromptu meeting for the early hours of tomorrow and my hair, well my hair looked absolutely horrible this morning, to describe it I would say it was quite “Ugged Up” [that's how my friend describes something ugly, Naija people ever so creative].

So when I heard of the supposedly high flying meeting I’m to attend first thing tomorrow I flew onto the streets of Lagos in a panicky state looking for a salon where I could get my hair done nicely within my budget.  That’s when I stumble on a nice looking coded place but the name was what caught my attention the most “The Rehab Salon”, I’ve heard of and even been to Make Me, Bobby’s, One Two & Two, X and Bs etc but this one made me curious.

I walked in knowing I only had 5k in my bag plus “no weave”. Surprisingly the treatment I was given was VIP for the de la creme,  something like “Hello Madam, please come in and have a seat while we attend to your every hair need”. No Exaggerations here, so I’m thinking to myself, “make my 5k no shame me”.

To cut the long story short, to my amazement, I was given a Keri Hilson Makeover for under 5k. I look sooo extra diva right now I wish I could upload a picture. The entire experience was utterly lovely.

The owner is a young, patient and talented guy and I know I’m going to keep getting my hair done there. It’s all the perks and a lil bit more at;

Fudstuf Shopping: Headache No More

Wednesday, May 5, 2010 10:45

I love to cook no lie, but with my busy work schedule and all, shopping for kitchen matters never attracts me. As a matter of fact it is a constant disturbance, it’s just that one can’t survive on indomie, preferably bought from a nearby mallam.

Recently I did a poll of all my friends to see how many people were dealing with same matter and to learn how they were handling it. As luck would have it, one of my friends, whom we’ve nicknamed “mama nothing spoil” for very silly reasons gave me dibs on a very special way to maintain my love for cooking without being a night market crawler, hence the story unfolds.

She said she also hated shopping for foodstuff and used to hope her husband would one day lift the load of her, sharing the responsibility 50-50, he’ll shop, she’ll cook. However, that didn’t work out for them but as luck would have it, one day her husband came home with a flier that alleviated all her worries, to my utmost delight there’s someone here in lagos, Illupeju to be precise who does all your food shopping for you, I mean all!

Even though she only does weekend shopping for now, it sha ensures that I don’t work all week and then all weekend too. I give her my list and she sends me everything all neat and tidy. what more could a family woman ask for.

Naija Home Makeover Edition

Wednesday, May 5, 2010 10:10

If you are like me and you’ve been living in your current house for more than four years, there’s a possibility you might feel me on this matter.

When I first moved into my house, I was so excited and I put in my all in designing my apartment, as in I researched all the modern fixtures required to make my house look all that. In fact when I was done I almost became an instant landlady. People fell in love with the ambiance of my home and before I knew it, they would visit me with a stack of DVDs and make me watch it with them till we all fell asleep, then it became DVDs and an overnight bag if you know what  I mean.

Up to a couple of days  ago however, I was too ashamed to have people over, there were cracks in the wall, chipping paint, chipped tables, torn sofas and settees. My kitchen was a no go area for visitors because by the time you sawthe layout you would not have wanted to drink water not to talk of eat my food. Seriously!

The case was so bad that God had to intervene in the person of my current source who introduced to me a company that saved me thorough embarrassment. Peak Performance Consulting has changed my home life 200%. The good thing is they are so creative, understanding and they try to work with your budget. Right now they are renovating my place, they’re handling up to plumbing and fixtures. from the look of things by the time they are done, you would think it was one of those reality home makeover shows that handled it. Again Seriously!

Please please please, there’s no excuse for a shabby home, try Peak Performance Consulting, you to go feel me.

Some days ago I told you about a new internet service that was set to explode on the Naija market scene. Well they have hit the market and they’ve done so in a massive way.

I went to test their service and indeed the service was crazy!

Because my source had been ranting on about their service, how it was all that, I decided I would test the service and make the most ridiculous request .Now the jegs is to make a specific request and you get a response in seconds, minutes or a maximum of 24 hours pata pata, okay now!

So I logged on to www.qubranx.com and there’s a large field asking me to fill in “Wetin You Dey Find” being as specific as possible. Well I did so and this is how it went;

Wetin You Dey Find: Please ask your question, be as specific as you can, include location and a price range where necessary

Mo Gbo Mo Ya: Where in Ikeja can I get Hearing Aids, my profession requires I use them to hear clearly?

Wetin You Dey Find: provide your details? [Name, Email, Phone No]

Mo Gbo Mo Ya: I cooperate and fill out my data.

[Exactly 7 minutes later] Wetin You Dey Find: BSA Hearing and Speech Centre, 10, Owodunni off Amore street, opposite Motayo Hospital, Ikeja. Lagos

Mo Gbo Mo Ya: Haba, this service is for real! Naija don go oh! Our very own Google!
